Finding True Life in Christ
"For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it." — Mark 8:35
Jesus’s words in Mark 8:35 reveal the path to real life, lasting fulfillment, and eternal purpose requires surrendering our own desires, our “self”, to Him.
In a culture that encourages self-promotion, achievement, and accumulating things for self-satisfaction, Jesus calls us into a different kind of life, one that often involves losing, surrendering, and saying “not my will, but Yours.” This isn’t defeat; it’s the essence of divine victory, finding life by giving it away.
Losing our life for Jesus means laying down selfish ambitions, fears, and the desire for worldly success. When we surrender to God and follow Him wholeheartedly, we discover that true life, full, abundant, and eternal, is found in trusting Him completely.
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10
The life Jesus offers is a life of purpose; a life rooted in eternity and in love that transcends circumstances.
Ask yourself: “Am I willing to lose my life in order to gain His?” Trust that when you surrender, you’re stepping into a greater life, one that no loss can diminish, because it is rooted in His everlasting love.
Surrender your fears, ambitions, and plans in prayer today. Trust His promises, have faith that when you lose your life to Him, you truly gain it in ways surpassing understanding. Live with purpose-centered not on self, but on serving, loving, and glorifying Him.
True life is found in giving yourself fully to Christ. When you surrender daily, and full, you enter into abundant life, His life, that transforms your existence from the ordinary into eternity-shaping purpose.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I thank You for the call to find real life in You. Help me to surrender my desires, my fears, and my plans, trusting that in losing my life for Your sake, I will truly gain life in You. Fill me with Your Spirit of sacrifice and purpose, and guide me into the fullness of Your eternal life. May my life reflect Your love, and may I live boldly for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
