Walking in His Call
"As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.' At once they left their nets and followed him." — Matthew 4:18-20
Draw your heart to the moment when Jesus called His first disciples, ordinary men, doing their daily work, and in that moment, everything changed. Their response was immediate: they left their nets and followed Him.
Jesus’s call is still present today. He invites us from every facet of life to leave behind what hinders us and follow Him fully. His calling is about obedience, stepping into a new purpose: becoming fishers of people, spreading His love and truth.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
When we respond to His call, He fills us with His Spirit to transform us into witnesses, people who reflect His love to the world. The call to follow Christ is an invitation into eternal purpose and divine partnership.
Consider your response to His call. Are you willing to leave your comfort zone and follow Him wholeheartedly? When you do, He promises to equip and send you out, making your life a powerful testimony of His grace.
Spend time praying: “Lord, I hear Your call. Help me to leave behind what hinders me and follow You fully.” Share His love with someone today; be a “fisher” in your own world. Trust that in following Jesus, you step into a life of purpose beyond your wildest dreams.
The same Jesus who called Simon and Andrew is calling you today. When you respond in faith and obedience, He transforms your ordinary into extraordinary, bringing light into darkness and hope to the hurting.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your calling. The invitation to follow Jesus and carry His Word into the world. Help me to respond with faith and obedience. Fill my heart with courage to leave behind what holds me back, and guide my steps into the purpose You have for me. Make my life a reflection of Your love, shining brightly for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
