Choose to Serve the Lord

“But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15

Today’s verse is a powerful reminder of the importance of making a deliberate choice. Joshua presents the Israelites with a clear: they must decide who they will serve—the false gods their ancestors served, or the living God who has brought them out of slavery and into promise.

Like the Israelites then, we are faced with choices every day. Sometimes, serving the Lord may seem inconvenient or demanding, tempting us to choose easier, worldly pursuits. But Joshua’s declaration teaches us that serving Jesus isn’t just a Sunday activity; it’s a daily commitment—a conscious decision to put God first in our lives, in our actions, in our hearts.

Reflect today:

- Who or what are you really serving?

- Are there areas where you feel tempted to turn away from God?

- Will you boldly declare, like Joshua, “As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD”?

Choosing to serve God wholeheartedly is not always the easiest path, but it is the most rewarding. When we commit ourselves to Him, we find purpose, peace, and the assurance that He leads us and our families into His promises.

Remember, you don’t have to walk this journey alone. The choice is yours every day—will you serve the Lord today?

Prayer:

Lord, I choose You today. Help me to stand firm in my decision to serve You fully, no matter the circumstances. Strengthen me to walk in Your purpose and be a light for my family and those around me. I declare today and every day that I will serve the Lord. Amen.
