Walking Wisely Through Challenges
"I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." — Matthew 10:16
In Matthew 10:16, Jesus warns us, He’s sending us into a world that can be hostile, deceptive, and harsh. Yet, His words are full of wisdom: be shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves.
Being shrewd as snakes doesn’t mean being tricky or manipulative; it’s about spiritual wisdom, discerning what is true from what is false, navigating situations with intelligence and spiritual insight. Being innocent as doves means maintaining purity, sincerity, and love, living honestly and with integrity, reflecting Christ’s character.
Walking with a discerning spirit and a heart of kindness is not easy, especially in a hostile environment. But this is the way of Jesus, balancing wisdom with love. When you rely on the Spirit, He helps you see what’s of God and what’s not, enabling you to respond with grace and truth.
Before your day begins, ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom: “Lord, help me to be discerning and pure. Guide my words and actions today.” When faced with difficult situations, trust that His Spirit will give you the balance of shrewdness and innocence. Speaking truth, showing kindness, and act with integrity.
Your journey is guided by His Spirit, strengthened by His love. When you walk with wisdom and purity, you reflect His character and influence those around you. Be wise, be pure, and trust that He is shaping your steps into His purpose.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Spirit that guides and protects. Help me to walk with discernment and purity, shrewd as the serpent, innocent as the dove. Guide my words and my steps today, so I can reflect Your love and truth in every situation. Strengthen me in Your wisdom, and help me walk confidently in Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
