Filled Continuously

“And be not drunk with wine… but be filled with the Spirit.” - Ephesians 5:18

The language here implies continuous action; “keep being filled.” This is a daily, ongoing reality. Just as our physical bodies require constant nourishment, our spiritual lives require continual filling.

We leak. Life drains us, through stress, temptation, responsibility, and weariness. Without intentional renewal, we become spiritually dry. But God has not left us to run on empty. The Spirit is ready to fill us again and again.

Being filled with the Spirit involves surrender. You cannot be full of self and full of the Spirit at the same time. It requires yielding your will, your plans, and your desires to Him. It also involves abiding, remaining in His presence through prayer, worship, and the Word.

The result of a Spirit-filled life is not chaos, but clarity. Not confusion, but peace. Not emptiness, but overflow. Stay near Him, and He will continually fill you.

Prayer:

Father, fill me afresh with Your Spirit today. Empty me of pride and self-reliance, and renew me with Your presence. Let my life overflow with You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
