Walking in the Spirit
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” - Galatians 5:16
Walking implies movement, consistency, and direction. It is a daily pattern of living. To walk in the Spirit means to actively yield to His leading in every area of life.
The flesh and the Spirit are in constant opposition. The flesh seeks self-gratification, pride, and independence from God. The Spirit leads toward holiness, humility, and obedience. Victory over sin is not achieved by focusing more intensely on sin itself, but by walking more closely with the Spirit.
Too often, believers attempt behavior modification without spiritual transformation. But true change comes from within. As we yield to the Spirit, our desires begin to shift. What once tempted us loses its grip, and what once seemed burdensome becomes a joy.
Walking in the Spirit requires attentiveness. It means listening when He convicts, responding when He prompts, and trusting when He leads. It is not about perfection, but direction. Each step surrendered to Him leads to freedom.
Prayer:
Spirit of God, teach me to walk with You daily. Strengthen me to resist the flesh and follow Your leading. Shape my desires and guide my steps in righteousness. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
