Empowered for Holiness

“For if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” - Romans 8:13 (KJV)

Holiness is not achieved through sheer willpower, it is empowered by the Spirit. The call to put sin to death is not a call to self-effort alone, but to Spirit-enabled victory.

Too often, believers either fall into legalism or resignation, either striving endlessly or giving up entirely. But the Spirit provides a better way. He convicts us of sin, gives us strength to resist it, and transforms our desires so that we no longer crave what once controlled us.

Holiness is not about restriction; it is about freedom. Freedom from sin’s grip. Freedom to live as God intended. When we are saturated in the Spirit, we are no longer slaves to the flesh.

This process requires cooperation. We must choose obedience, even when it is difficult. But we do not choose alone, the Spirit strengthens us in every step.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, empower me to walk in holiness. Give me strength to resist temptation and a heart that desires righteousness. Help me live set apart for You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
