Day 3: Choosing to Forgive
"Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." - Colossians 3:13
Today, we focus on forgiveness as a choice. It’s not always an emotion that comes naturally or instantly; sometimes, forgiveness requires us to stretch beyond our feelings and make a deliberate decision.
Choosing to forgive means deciding to let go of bitterness, resentment, and the desire for revenge. It’s an act of obedience and trust in God's plan. When we forgive, we’re essentially surrendering our right to hold onto hurt, trusting that God’s justice and mercy will handle the rest.
We forgive not because others deserve it, but because Christ has forgiven us first. When we choose forgiveness, we mirror His grace and set ourselves free from the chains of anger.
Make the choice to let go of your burdens, extend grace, and trust that God’s justice and healing will follow.
Prayer:
God, give me the strength and resolve to forgive, even when it’s hard. Help me release resentment and embrace Your grace. Remind me that forgiving others is an act of obedience and that, through Your power, I can choose to walk in freedom. Fill my heart with Your love so I can forgive as You have forgiven me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
