God’s Word Continues to Grow
“But the word of God continued to grow and spread.”* — Acts 12:24
I can’t help but think about what the early Christians were facing when this was written. The church was born into a world hostile to its message. In Acts 12, we see Peter imprisoned, circumstances that seemed dire and even hopeless. King Herod was actively seeking to eliminate the followers of Jesus, putting Peter in prison and persecuting many believers.
Despite these terrifying odds, Luke notes that “the word of God continued to grow and spread.” This is incredible. It wasn’t just surviving; it was thriving in the midst of persecution. The enemy tried to silence the Gospel through imprisonment, violence, and opposition, but God's Word was unstoppable.
Why? Because God’s truth isn’t dependent on human circumstances. It’s alive, powerful, and divine. The early church’s perseverance, prayer, and unwavering faith played a role, but ultimately, it was God’s Spirit working through their efforts that caused His Word to flourish despite the hostility. God’s plans are greater than any human resistance.
I too face opposition, whether it’s doubts, discouragement, or external pressures. Sometimes, I feel as if circumstances are trying to silence my faith or hinder God's work in my life. But this verse reminds me that no matter what I face, God's Word continues to grow. The Gospel keeps spreading, not because of my strength but because of God's power.
So, I choose to trust in that unstoppable force. I want to be faithful in sharing His Word, knowing that even when things look bleak, His purpose is still unfolding. The early church’s victory encourages me: we serve a God who can bring life and growth in the most impossible situations.
No matter the opposition, setbacks, or fears, God's Word is resilient and eternal. Its growth is guaranteed. I commit to trusting that what God has started, His truth will never be thwarted.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank You that Your Word is unstoppable. In times of challenge and opposition, help me to remember that You are greater than any circumstance. Strengthen my faith and give me courage to stand firm, knowing that Your truth continues to grow and spread. Use me as a vessel to carry Your Word forward, and may I trust in Your perfect plan even when times seem dark. Amen.
