Gratitude for God's Miracle
“One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him, and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, 'Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?'" — Luke 17:15-18
We should always go the God with a heart of gratitude, the heart posture that recognizes and honors God's mercy. Out of the ten who were healed, only one returned to thank Jesus. That man’s response showed a heart full of love, humility, and recognition of God’s grace.
This story reminds us that healing, blessing, and mercy are gifts from God, gifts we should never take for granted. When God moves in our lives, whether in healing, provision, or protection, it’s vital to pause and respond with gratitude.
Gratitude opens the door for us to truly see God's hand in our lives. It shifts our focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant; His mercy, His goodness, His grace. A heart full of thankfulness is a heart aligned with God's gratitude, and it invites His favor and His presence.
How often do we return to thank God for His blessings? Sometimes, the greatest act of faith is simply to say, “Thank You, Lord,” and to live with a heart that recognizes His kindness each day.
Make it a habit to thank God, whether in prayer, journaling, or even through acts of kindness. When you pause to give praise, you're reaffirming your trust in His goodness and inviting His continued work in your life.
God’s blessings are a sign of His love and mercy. When you respond with gratitude, you honor Him and open your heart to even more of His favor. Be the one who returns to give praise and experience the fullness of God's grace.
Prayer:
Father, I thank You for Your mercy and all the blessings You have poured into my life. Help me develop a heart of gratitude that continually returns to give You praise. Teach me to see Your hand in every blessing, and remind me always to thank and worship You from a grateful heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
