Choosing Wisdom Over Arrogance
"Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to advice." — Proverbs 12:15
The humble heart recognizes the value of listening and learning. Proverbs 12:15 highlights a truth: fools are convinced their way is best, ignoring the wisdom of others; but the wise are those who listen and seek understanding.
God calls us not to rely solely on our own perceptions but to seek His guidance through His Word, the counsel of wise friends, and the Holy Spirit. True wisdom begins with humility, admitting that we don’t have all the answers and that seeking wise counsel is a sign of strength, not weakness.
When we are humble enough to listen, we open ourselves up to growth, correction, and divine insight. God’s wisdom is available to those who place their trust in Him and His Word, not those who rely on their own understanding alone (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Choose to be wise. When approached with advice or correction, pause and pray: “Lord, help me to listen with an open heart. Teach me Your ways and give me humility to learn from others so I can walk in Your truth.”
Be willing to hear, to grow, and to adjust your course as God directs. The path of humility is the path to divine wisdom and lasting peace.
God loves a teachable heart. When you humble yourself to listen and learn, you position yourself to walk in His wisdom and His good, perfect, and pleasing will.
Prayer:
Father, I thank You for the gift of wisdom, and for the grace to be teachable. Help me to listen carefully, to seek Your guidance, and to humility accept correction. Guide me in Your truth, so I can walk in wisdom and live according to Your will. Make my heart teachable and my ears open to Your voice. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
